Welcome to my blog. My name is Steve Lents and I am a professional photographer living in Portland, Oregon near the Columbia Gorge. I am an honors graduate from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in writing and have been involved in photography for most of my life. I currently serve as the Vice President of the Gresham Referral Organization, a business networking group on the East side of Portland and am the staff photographer for the West Columbia Gorge Chamber of Commerce.
Someone asked me how I chose to become a photographer. Actually I think it chose me. Since I was a small child I always wanted to be an artist and could never refine the nuances of brush and oils. I remember my art teacher getting frustrated with me during one of our sessions and saying, “You would be better off with a camera.” As it turned out, he was right. Photography has freed the artist in me and allowed my creativity to articulate itself in a way I never thought possible as a child. I love the feeling of accomplishment after a long shoot. It is most exhilarating.
